Weddings at Advent
The Rite of Marriage is normally offered only to members of Advent Lutheran Church
Advent’s Wedding Guild would like to assist you in making arrangements with the church that will ensure that your ceremony is both worshipful and wonderful. Please take a moment to review the following guidelines for weddings:
Preliminary Preparations
#1– Contact the church office to secure your wedding date and request use of facilities. Speak to the Pastor of your choice at this time. It is helpful for you to determine ahead of time if you would like to request one or both of the pastors, and which one you would like to preach. The preacher will oversee your pre-marital work.
#2 - Make an Appointment to complete the PREPARE/ENRICH pre-marital inventory, as soon as possible after booking your wedding date. There is a $35 scoring fee.
#3 - Plan on Attending the two Pre-Marital classes held each January for couples marrying during the calendar year.
Wedding Guild Assistance
#1 - Please leave phone and/or email contacts so a member of the Wedding Guild can set up a time to meet with you.
#2 - Members of the Wedding Guild will be available to assist you with church supplies that are available for your use, decorating guidelines and post-ceremony clean up. If you wish, they will be on hand before, during and after the ceremony,
Guidelines for Use of Our Sanctuary
#1 - Colors in the church are pre-determined by the season of the Church Year, and you may inquire as to what color will be present in the sanctuary when you book your wedding date. Whatever colors and decorations are in use at the time of your ceremony will be retained. With the exception of candelabra, wedding flowers, and a Unity candle, there will be no additional decorations permitted in the Chancel area.
#2 - No tape or tacks may be used on the rail, the pews or other wood.
#3 – All music used within the ceremony must be approved by the pastor.
#4 – Immediately following the ceremony, all wedding decorations should be removed by the friends/families of the couple, to ready the sanctuary for Sunday services.
Some Questions to Ponder in Your Early Planning
#1 - How might the color of the church season (which will be pre-set) contrast with the colors of your wedding?
#2 - Will you include Holy Communion as part of your ceremony?
#3 - Would you like help setting up on the day before the wedding?
Fees
There are no Facility Use fees for members of Advent, however, donations to particular ministries are always appreciated.
Musician fees are $200 for an organist/pianist; $300 for organist and pianist - $50 less if not required at rehearsal; $150 for a Vocal Soloist, Harp or Flute
Final Thoughts
