Sanctuary Art
There are a number of items in our sanctuary that have been created especially for Advent.
The stained glass windows that surround the cross were designed by member Lori Sohl, and they depict an abstraction of the three rings of the Trinity, as well as the spiritual growth symbolized by vines and branches. There is also a hint of the Holy Spirit descending amidst the colors of the whole church year. The stained glass windows were a gift in loving memory of Bob Mead, by his wife Marina.
The large wooden cross that adorns the chancel wall behind the altar was handcrafted by member Lloyd Anderson..bmp)
The baptismal font was commissioned by Pastor Roger and Pastor Susan from artist Duane Dahl of Santa Fe Glass in Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was provided as a memorial gift for the dedication of the sanctuary in 2000, in loving memory of Jana E. Pinker, by her family.
Throughout the year, art panels hang on the western wall of the sanctuary. There are a total of six panels by member artist Lori Sohl, one each for the seasons of Advent, Christmas/Epiphany, Lent, Easter, Pentecost and the Season of Pentecost. These panels hang individually, or sometimes in pairs to show the connection between seasons. They are often hung as a group throughout the Season of Pentecost.
The sanctuary environment is lovingly provided and tended to by Melva Anderson, with assistance from Linda Okeson and Jennifer Gieschen, who also provides a welcoming atmosphere in the entry breezeways. This ever-shifting "living" art is seasonal and includes colors and symbols appropriate to the liturgical designation of the day..bmp)
On the south side, just about at the midway point of the building, a stained glass window depicting the Luther Rose is lighted throughout the nighttime hours. This window was crafted by former member, Rick Wilsey, and given as a gift.
