Holy Week

Each year during Holy Week (the week between Palm Sunday and Easter),we offer a variety of worship opportunities, from morning Eucharist (communion) to a Seder supper to the Triduum.  Each is designed to aid us in our journey of faith from Palm Sunday to Easter Morning.  The following offers a brief description of the service.  At the beginning of Lent, a full schedule will be posted so that you can begin your planning.

Seder Supper: This is a Messianic Seder that follows the tradition of the Jewish Seder (Remember in the movie, The 10 Commandments before they the angel of death came, they ate a meal together?  That was the first Seder.)  The meal celebrates the Israelites' escape from Egypt.  It is hosted the evening of Palm Sunday.

Morning Eucharist: This is a brief worship service that is held each morning during Holy Week.  It includes prayer, a homily and communion.  It is designed to provide a center for your day.

Maundy Thursday: This evening service honors the Last Supper of Jesus and his disciples.  Prior to the service we have a congregational dinner.  During the service we hear the words of Jesus as he created the first communion.  We also share in the practice of washing feet, just as Jesus did for his disciples. At the end of the service, the altar is stripped symbolizing the arrest and trial of Jesus by the Temple Leaders

Good Friday: Traditionally we have had three services on this day. We begin with Morning Eucharist, in the afternoon we have a brief service remembering the time of Jesus' death.  In the evening we commemorate

Holy Saturday: Tonight at 11:00p.m, we begin our Vigil of Easter.  This is a service in four parts: light, lessons, Baptism, and Easter Communion.  The Easter Communion begins at 12:01a.m. and is the official Easter Service.  It is a powerful and moving service as we keep Vigil as did the first Christians, complete with drama, darkness, joy and light.
